Car information §

Maintain a long distance between your car and the car in front of you to avoid gravel hitting your car and also because other drivers sometimes suddenly stop on the road.

Winds in Iceland are really strong, look after your doors as the wind can catch the doors and nearly rip them off. Park with the front end facing the wind and open one door at a time carefully.

Your car has a full tank on delivery, please return it with a full tank. Ask our representative what type of fuel your car uses and how to open the fuel door.

Do not stand or climb on the cars.

Keeping your lights on while driving in Iceland is mandatory, ask our representative how the light switch work.

A lot of damages in Iceland happen while the car is parked. Be carefull when picking a parking spot!

Do not wash the cars with brushes as it damages the paint.

No insurance covers river crossing or damage to the undercarriage of the car.

The national emergency phone number in Iceland is 112.

To check the weather, we recommend us VEÐUR: https://en.vedur.is/

To check road condition, we recommend using road.is: https://www.road.is/

For general safety, weather warnings we recommend using Safetravel: https://safetravel.is/

We recommend downloading the PARKA app for your trip to Iceland, many sightseeing spots and national parks have a parking fee as well as you can use that to pay for parking in the city of Reykjavik. It is best to add the car license plate to the car when you have picked that up as well as your credit card information.

There is also one tunnel that has a fee in North Iceland and to pay for that you need to go to www.tunnel.is and enter the license plate number of the car and pay there when you drive through it, there is another road (nr. 83 and 84) that you can take but in the winter we do not recommend it, it is only 15 minutes longer to drive that road but in the winter that road is not serviced.

Please be aware that additional fees will apply if parking and tunnel fees are not paid on the same day as they are used.
